PETALING JAYA: Chinese New Year is once again upon us, and Malaysians are getting ready to welcome the auspicious Year of the Wood Dragon.

FMT Lifestyle spoke with feng shui expert Kenny Hoo, founder of Good Feng Shui, who shared that 2024 is a “special year” as it marks the first of 20 promising years ahead!

“In 2024, we will be entering a brand-new cycle during which we will see new and better changes in terms of technology, finances, lifestyle and health,” he said.

While that’s great news indeed, there will also be instances where you might have to keep an eye out for trouble and play it safe. Read on to find out what awaits those who are born in these respective years.

1. Rat (2020, 2008, 1996, 1984, …)

Uh-oh! Without intending to start off on a cautious note, gossipmongers will be spinning tales with you in the centre, Hoo warned. Worse still, seemingly trivial issues may escalate into full-blown crises.

“Should there be any legal documents you wish to sign, read it through once, and then again, and get someone to verify them for you,” he added.

Favourable luck will eventually come your way from August, with financial aid arriving in September.

2. Ox (2021, 2009, 1997, 1985, …)

“The Ox will have much to celebrate,” said Hoo, listing promotions, marriage and conception among this year’s boons.

Many lucky stars shine upon the Ox, with May and September being the best months. So, those born in the Year of the Ox should take any opportunity that comes their way: “Go for it!”

3. Tiger (2022, 2010, 1998, 1986, …)

The Tiger will have some challenges coming their way, including quarrels, in the foreseeable future.

Travel is also on the cards, and you are likely to meet many friendly faces and helping hands on your journeys, so it isn’t all bad.

Those who are moving about to survey and buy or sell property will obtain favourable results this year.

Challenges burn bright this year, and the Tiger will likely be on the move in 2024.

4. Rabbit (2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, …)

“Rabbits have pluses and minuses this year,” said Hoo. Looking out for one’s health should be a top priority, specifically where it concerns eyes and limbs.

Thankfully, the Rabbit has some lucky stars to remedy these matters, Hoo added. Wealth-wise, things will be fair.

5. Dragon (2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, …)

The Dragon needs to lay low this year to not draw unwanted attention to themselves. Watch out for those who might be envious of you.

If and when this happens, Hoo advised: “Try to take it easy and don’t bother about it too much. Just focus on the work you have to do.”

6. Snake (2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, …)

“This year, the Snake is among those on the top of the list,” said Hoo. Good news will be abundant this year in terms of wealth and health.

The sun and the stars shine on you in 2024, with high chances of conceiving for eager couples. And as it happens, babies born in the Dragon year tend to be lucky!

7. Horse (2014, 2002, 1990, 1978, …)

Caution is the word of the year for the Horse: all endeavours ought to be executed cautiously, said Hoo.

Be on your guard while overseas, and keep an eye on the health of your elderly loved ones.

8. Goat (2015, 2003, 1991, 1979, …)

The Goat has a good year ahead, with many benefactors coming your way. “Should there be any challenges, your supporters will provide a helping and guiding hand.”

According to Hoo, finances will be a breeze this year and the Goat will exude much positive energy to those around them.

Folks who wish for this energy to rub off on them should, therefore, keep close to the Goat.

9. Monkey (2016, 2004, 1992, 1980, …)

Petty matters will pose a problem to the Monkey this year, Hoo said – not to mention petty people.

You will be the subject of jealousy, he warned, and it’s best to avoid arguments. Also, exercise caution when signing legal documents.

“After August,” said Hoo, “things will be better.” The good news is, the Monkey will not suffer financially this year.

10. Rooster (2017, 2005, 1993, 1981, …)

The Rooster will be highly sought after in 2024, said Hoo. “Single Roosters will be meeting their Mr or Mrs Right this year.”

That said, too much love might be a problem, especially when attached folks start getting unwanted suitors. Talk about too much of a good thing!

Good news: single Roosters are likely to get hitched this year! (Pixabay pic)

Wealth and health are reasonably good this year as well, though some caution is advised regarding one’s health.

11. Dog (2018, 2006, 1994, 1982, …)

Being too adventurous may prove ill-advised for the Dog, Hoo warned, so invest carefully or risk losing more than you can afford.

Unexpected expenses are a likelihood this year, so have some funds ready for any possibility.

12. Pig (2019, 2007, 1995, 1983, …)

The end of 2024 will bring great rewards to the Pig; this is the year for you to pursue dreams that have long been dormant. “You will see a good harvest,” Hoo said.

A happy Pig will also be a helpful one, so go spread the joy with others!
